Girls Program - Policies
It is expected that each player should arrive to the game ready to go (dressed, cleats on,etc) 60 minutes prior to the start of the game.
All practices are mandatory
If a player is absent a coach must be notified. If a player misses a practice with no notification they will not play in the next game. If a player is excused from practice for legitimate reasons (illness, academic purposes, college visits, family emergency, etc.) they will have minimal game time loss. If the absence has been notified and it is not related to the reasons above player and coach will discuss playing time.
We adhere to the OSAA academic guidelines:
- Players need to have passed 5 classes during the fall semester.
- Players need to be enrolled in and passing 5 classes during the spring semester.
- Players must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
- To participate in practice or games, players must attend classes the day of the event, and be in class the day after a contest at 8am.
- Seniors must be on track to graduate.
-- Work Ethic/Effort, Attitude, Respect & Sportsmanship --
Players represent themselves, their family, our school, our community and our program when on the field. Our expectation is that each player do this with pride and positivity. If there is an issue players will be notified by the coach and playing time will be affected.
All players will adhere to the Bend La Pine Participation Contract. We strongly believe off-field behavior should be the same as on-field behavior. When in the community, classroom, bus etc., players will be on their best behavior to positively represent themselves and our program. This includes online/social media behavior. If there is an issue players will be notified by the coach and playing time will be affected.
Academic success comes before athletics. If a player needs to stay home to get homework done, get caught up in a class, makeup a test, etc. they should do so, but make sure you notify your coach in advance.
We don't tolerate any player drug and alcohol use during the season. It is illegal, bad for developing brains and a sign of poor character. We hold these girls to a higher standard than what some would say was "normal" teen behavior. Players need to avoid all scenarios where drugs and alcohol may be present even if that means leaving a get together where another student decides to bring drugs or alcohol. We encourage players to plan activities on the weekend with other girls from our program. If kids can't have a good time with their friends without drugs or alcohol there is a problem. If this becomes an issue we will look to the school drug and alcohol policy and the player will have a meeting with coaches to discuss consequences.
Your job is to enjoy watching your kid play! Do not coach. Let the coaches do their job even if you think you know what's best. They will have bad games during the season, we all do! Be positive and supportive on the sidelines or say nothing at all. Please don't have us send your player over to talk with you and please don't be the parent of the player who wants to be on the side opposite of you so they don't have to listen to your comments. Be the parent they are proud of, they are slightly embarrassed of because of your amazing cheers and love because you support them and encourage them no matter how the game is played.
Sideline behavior
You represent our program and our school. Just as we expect players to be respectful and have good sportsmanship we expect parents to do the same. We don't care what the other teams parents are saying and we will take care of any umpire or visiting team issues.

Coaches will not discuss playing time with parents. Send your daughter to their coach. If they still seem confused send them again. If it seems that there is a major miscommunication then contact the coach and they will talk with the player again to try and work out any confusion.
Always send the player to the coach first. Our coaching staff is a strong believer in teens learning to advocate for themselves and take responsibility early and often. Feel free to contact a coach if you have a concern that directly impacts you players health and well-being and they are not willing to come to the coach directly out of embarrassment, fear of player retaliation or if there is a miscommunication. Please contact coaches via email unless discussed with coach and given permission otherwise.
